NOTE: Skaters who register for Winter (Jan to Mar) programs -- the CSC will be hosting a Spring Fling Carnival which all skaters for the club can participate in to showcase their skating skills. This themed Carnival is on March 24th from 6 until 7:00 p.m . and will be a fun event for all our skaters (Pre-CanSkate up)! Skaters registered for Winter programs will be invoiced a $20 costume fee and will receive 1 adult entry ticket to the Carnival. Pre-CanSkate: Pre-CanSkate is designed for first time skaters to teach how to stand independently without the assistance of a skate aid or adult and to move forward, backward and other basic skating skills. Skaters must be over the age of 3 as of the start date of the class. Pre-CanSkate is a 30 minute program: Monday - 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday - 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday - 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Saturday - 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. or 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Skaters are encouraged to skate in more than 1 program per week whenever possible to see the most advancement in skills (e.g. Tuesday and Saturday or Tuesday and Thursday etc.) Fall Programs: September 30 to December 16, 2019 Winter Programs: January 6 to March 16, 2020 No skating : Oct 1; Oct 3; Oct 12; Oct 14; Nov 11; Dec 7; Feb 15; Feb 17; Feb 18; Feb 20; Skaters are moved to CanSkate mid-season from Pre-CanSkate when they demonstrate the requisite skills. CanSkate: CanSkate is a complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating as well as general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster. At the CanSkate level it is recommended skaters skate 2 times per week if possible for skill development. Our home arena is the Cochrane Arena and is located by the tri-schools at 609 4 Ave N, Cochrane, AB. The Cochrane Skating Club is a non-profit organization sanctioned by Skate Canada and has been organizing skating programs for the Cochrane Community and surrounding community for over 40 years. Our club is run through the efforts of volunteers and professionally certified coaches who dedicate much energy and time to ensure high quality programs are available for all levels and ages. We offer skating lessons in group or private format. The Cochrane Skating Club continues to provide excellent coaching, skating and activities through the skating season. Skaters experience the joy of skating, the challenges of learning and demonstrating new skills and benefit from the terrific fitness opportunity it provides and as an added bonus our skaters develop amazing relationships in the community and life-long friendships.
